Mrs. Liri Berisha participating in the Annual Meeting of members of United States Congress.

In the afternoon of 3rd February, Mrs. Liri Berisha took part in the annual reception organized by Women's Informational Network – WIN under the auspices of Rosa DeLauro, member of House of Representatives, reception which was held in the Rayburn House Office Building.

This annual reception was in honor of members of United States Congress that debate and engages for deepening women participating in the American politics. Many members of United States Congress, outstanding activists of American civil society, politicians etc. took part in this activity.
In the opening speech, Rosa DeLauro, member of House of Representatives, also board member of the Board of Women's Informational Network – WIN for U.S. Congress, warmly welcomed Mrs. Berisha, President of Mother Teresa Cultural Foundation, wife of Albanian Prime Minister Mr. Sali Berisha, and winner of International Prize of this organization in 2009. Mrs. DeLauro mentioned the efforts of Mrs. Berisha for increasing the role of women in many areas of the Albanian society.

During these important activities, Mrs. Liri Berisha met with members of United States Congress: Rosa DeLauro, Diana Degette, Betsy Markey, Shelley Berkley, Diane Watson, Jackie Speier, Allyson Schwartz, Judy Chu, etc. with whom she had warm and friendly conversations. The members of United States Congress showed their interest toward the mission and activities Mother Teresa Cultural Foundation.
Mrs. Berisha emphasized the important fact that100th birth anniversary of Mother Teresa aims to be turned by the foundation but also from the Albanian governmental institutions into an international day, as she said: "Mother Teresa belongs to all humanity."
The U.S Congress members appraised these efforts and offered their help to support such initiatives that make known such human values.

On the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Mother Teresa, this foundation will be organizing a range of activities, of which together with an integrated program of the Albania Government will culminate with the inauguration of Mother Teresa Memorial in Tirana. Taking into consideration this main objective of the foundation and Albanian Government, Mrs. Liri presented the invitation of Mother Teresa Cultural Foundation to the U.S. Congress members for participation in this ceremony that will be developed for this jubilee in Tirana, invitation which was accepted with great pleasure from these members.

After this reception in U.S Congress, Ms. Liri Berisha had a dinner with the President of Women's Informational Network Mrs. Karen Mulhauser, one of the icons of the United States civil society. Mrs. Mulhauser has been the leader of civil movement for allowing abortion in U.S. in begining of '70 , whereas today one of the most important personalities of civil society in Washington DC. During this dinner thoughts and ideas were exchanged about teh possibilities of future activities of Mother Teresa Cultural Foundation in United States such as: the creation of the "Mother Teresa Friends“, establishing a Task Force or other forms, aiming to present values of the Albanian society.
The interlocutors concluded on many point, which will be further developed.
The visit of Mrs. Liri Berisha in Washington DC was successful and achieved its purpose.
